M.S. in Mathematics & Applied Mathematics

The master’s programs offer flexible, rigorous training designed both for students seeking a final professional degree and for those building a strong foundation for doctoral studies. Students complete a customizable 30-credit curriculum emphasizing advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with options to pursue pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or coursework in related technical areas. Master's candidates can tailor their plan of study around coursework, with the choice to integrate up to six credits of research thesis work, all supported by a collaborative, tight-knit academic community and opportunities for merit-based scholarships.

Ph.D. in Mathematics & Applied Mathematics

The Ph.D. programs offer a rigorous, research-intensive environment designed to prepare candidates for advanced careers in academia, industry, and research. Grounded in a comprehensive foundational curriculum—including tracks in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics and data science—doctoral students progress from core qualifying examinations to advanced coursework, topic exams, and original dissertation research under the close guidance of active faculty mentors. The department provides robust financial support to Ph.D. candidates through teaching assistantships, research assistantships, and fellowships, fostering a close-knit scholarly community dedicated to advancing mathematical theory and real-world application.

M.S. in Statistics & Data Science

The M.S. in Statistics and Data Science delivers a focused, quantitative foundation designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in data analytics, industry research, or advanced doctoral study. The 30-credit curriculum builds deep technical expertise in probability, mathematical statistics, statistical learning, and computational data analysis. With options to complete coursework-focused tracks or integrate independent research thesis credits, the program provides a flexible, collaborative learning environment complemented by opportunities for merit-based financial aid.
